About Friends of the Central Cascades Wilderness

Our mission is to protect and preserve the wilderness areas of the Central Cascades through education and stewardship, working in partnership with land managers to care for trails, backcountry campsites, and natural landscapes - ensuring these wild places remain unspoiled for future generations.

Volunteer with Friends of the Central Cascades Wilderness

No experience is necessary. Volunteer work parties hike into the wilderness for a one day hike or a several day backpack. Typical tasks are maintaining trails and trail signs, cleaning-up campsites and packing out trash, and restoring over-used recreation areas. Volunteers can qualify for NW Forest Passes, Wilderness Permits, and National Park Passes as they accumulate hours of service. We have an annual volunteer orientation meeting in April and social gatherings throughout the summer.

To volunteer, sign up with Central Oregon Trail Volunteers on the Better Impact database.

Volunteers will receive email notifications about upcoming events and training opportunities.
